Barbara Carol Ping, 87, of Tamaroa, passed away at 3:42 A.M., Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at her residence.
Barbara had been a homemaker.  She had worked at Essex, P.R. Mallory, MCA, and Wal-mart.  Barbara was a member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin, where she had been a Sunday School teacher for years.
She was born September 17, 1938 in Tamaroa, IL, the daughter of Lyle and Lola (Rice) Heape.
She married Donald Overton on October 12, 1957 at the Paradise Baptist Church in Tamaroa and he preceded her in death on February 28, 1978.  She then married Kenneth Wayne Ping on June 10, 1979 at the Sunfield Baptist Church and he survives.
She is survived by her husband of Tamaroa, children - Mark Overton and wife Joyce of Percy, IL, Todd Overton and wife Carol of Assumption, IL, Michael Overton and wife Denise of Springfield, MO, Jason Ping and wife Abbie of Tamaroa, Kelly Brenner and husband Russell of Panama City Beach, FL, Kimberly Russell and husband Leo of Du Quoin, Kendra Campanella and husband Clem of Mulkeytown, and Krista Mills and husband Tracy of Du Quoin, one sister - Kay Danbury of Tamaroa, eighteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, one daughter - Cindy Archer, one sister - Collene Woodside, and one brother - Donald Heape.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 7, 2026 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Michael Overton officiating.
Friends may call from 9 A.M. until the time of service on Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial will be in the Paradise Cemetery in Tamaroa, IL.
Friends may make memorials to the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin and will be accepted at the funeral home.
