Bertha M. Barwick, 100, of Elkville, passed away at 6:45 A.M., Monday, January 8, 2024 at the Shawnee Senior Living in Herrin, IL.
Bertha had been a homemaker.  She was a member of the Elkville Baptist Church.
She was born August 13, 1923 in West Frankfort, IL, the daughter of Hiram and Mary (Bolen) Karnes.
She married Charles Barwick on October 6, 1943 in Jackson, MO and he preceded her in death on March 10, 1999.
She is survived by two children - Rodney Barwick and wife Jane and Carmen Helmer and husband Dan, all of Du Quoin, four grandchildren - Nathan Barwick and wife Kitoria of Du Quoin, Christy Stewart and husband Mike of Carterville, Paige Lilly and husband Jeremiah of Jacksonville, FL and Jada Helmer and fiancé John Porter of Jacksonville, FL, five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and three brothers.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, January 11, 2024 at the Elkville Cemetery at Elkville, IL with Rev. Ron Kreid officiating.
Those attending the service are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
Burial will be in the Elkville Cemetery at Elkville, IL.
Friends may make memorials to the Perry County Humane Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
