Bobby G. Swallers, 91, of Kankakee, formerly of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:54 A.M., Sunday, January 1, 2023 at his residence.
Bobby had worked as a supervisor at Gould Battery Plant. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. He was a United States Army Veteran.
He was born July 26, 1931 in Du Quoin, IL, the son of Roy and Lucille (Wright) Swallers.
He married Betty Mae Russell on May 23, 1953 in Du Quoin, IL and she preceded him in death on March 29, 2011.
Bobby is survived by two sons - Rickie Swallers of Dwight, IL and Roddie Swallers of Buckner, IL, two daughters - Robin Turrell and husband Greg of Kankakee, IL, and Monica Rocha of Chebanse, IL, six grandchildren - Heather, Shane, Brant, Matthew, Nathan, and Katie, twelve great grandchildren - Zack, Kiara, Brooklyn, Carley, Rachel, Brea, Lillee, Jaxlen, Brett, Levi, Logan, and Rhett and one great great grandchild - Jacklyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one brother - Jim Swallers.
Friends may call from 5-7 P.M., Thursday, January 5, 2023 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 6, 2023 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.
Burial will be in the Old Du Quoin Cemetery in Du Quoin, IL.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin V.F.W. and American Legion and the Army National Guard.
Friends may make memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
