Charles Darren Martie, 52, of Elkville, passed away at 7:34 A.M., Sunday, September 25, 2022 at the Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Mary's Campus in Rochester, MN.
Charles had been a correctional officer for the prison in Murphysboro, IL. He was of the Christian Faith.
He was born November 14, 1969 in Du Quoin, IL, the son of Charles C. and Gayla A. (Tolbert) Martie.
Charles married Jamie Walters and she survives.
He is survived by his wife, his parents - Charles C. and Gayla A. Martie of Elkville, two daughters - Rachel Martie Shope and husband Jacob of Murphysboro, Ashlee Martie Miller and husband Richard, two grandchildren - Beau Gabriel Martie and Trinity Martie, one sister - Cheryl Johnson and husband Paul of Johnson City, IL, and three nephews and a niece - Andrew Johnson, Alex Johnson, Jacob Johnson, and Ezekiel Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Dr. Thomas Gentry officiating.
Friends may call from 10A.M. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Hallidayboro Cemetery in Elkville.
