Obituary

Charles P. Spotanski, 84, of Ashley, IL, passed away at 9:50 P.M., Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Friendship Manor Health Care in Nashville, IL.
Charles had been a supervisor at General Motors for thirty-two years.  He also worked for Collinsville Township and Baldhill Township as a laborer.  Charles was a member of St. Barbara Catholic Church in Scheller.
Chuck loved being outside, whether it was mowing the grass in his meticulously manicured lawn, piddling for hours in the shed, or cutting wood for the wood burning stove. And we cannot forget his love for the farm. He grew up farming and into his young adulthood. And he was fortunate to farm in his retirement helping his son. Whether planting, combining, or running grain loads from the field to home or the elevator. We always said Dad was in his happy place on a tractor. He loved his wife and children dearly, and thought the world of his daughter-in-law. He was so very proud of his family and adored his grandchildren and little great grandchildren. He was simply one of the kindest and sweetest souls.  He was the friendliest person, very social, and enjoyed his morning coffee at the Mule Barn.
He was born March 17, 1940 in Du Bois, IL, the son of Carl and Alice (Zamenski) Spotanski.
He married Judy Betlejewski on September 4, 1961 at St. Mary the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon, IL and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Ashley, two children - Suzanne Spotanski of Troy, IL, and Mark Spotanski and wife Amy of Ashley, IL, three grandchildren - Rachel Wellen and husband Kyle of McLeansboro, IL, Claudia Spotanski and fiancé Kyle Kreger of Ashley, IL, and Evan Siekmann of Troy, IL, three great grandchildren - Abigail Wellen, Collins Wellen, and Joshua Wellen, all of McLeansboro, IL, one brother - Larry Spotanski and wife Marcella of Du Bois, IL, and one sister - Linda Norris of Waltonville, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant sister - Eva Spotanski, one brother - Richard Spotanski and wife Joan and two brothers-in-law - Alan Norris and Steve Richardson.
