Charlotte E. Barnes, 66, of Herrin, IL, formerly of Du Quoin, passed away at 10:27 P.M., Sunday, September 8, 2024 at Midtown Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN.
Charlotte had been a cashier at Wal-Mart.  She was a member of the V.F.W. in Herrin.
She was born August 8, 1958 in Dayton, OH, the daughter of Frank Stanley and Verla Ilene (Tilley) Dunmyer.
She married Bruce Barnes and he preceded her in death on May 22, 2024.
She is survived by two sons - Ryan Spann of Du Quoin and Daniel Spann of Elkville, two step daughters - Kandi Ross of Ohio and Carrie Strebig of Indiana, three grandchildren - Garrett Gresham of Nashville, IL, Danny Jo Gresham of Pinckneyville, and Lyndzee Spann of Du Quoin, one great grandson - Keaton Gresham, five siblings - Gordon Ray Dunmyer and wife Barb of Dowell, Sue E. Pyron and husband Roger of Du Quoin, Frank Dunmyer, Jr. of Elkville, George Dunmyer and wife Heather of New Minden, and Patricia Robinson and husband Brant of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two nephews - David and Jason.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 P.M., Friday, September 13, 2024 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Friends may call from 1 P.M. until the time of service on Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial will be in the Old Du Quoin Cemetery in Du Quoin, IL.
A Celebration of Life for Charlotte will be held at 1:00 P.M., Sunday, September 15, 2024 at the V.F.W. Post 513 in Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home.
