Christine Kelley, 71, of Du Quoin, passed away at 11:05 A.M., Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.
Chris was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin.  She taught at Sacred Heart School, Du Quoin Middle School, and at the Illinois Department of Corrections in Pinckneyville.
She was born January 26, 1953 at Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin to Dr. Richard and Muriel (Dunn) Matlavish.
On June 24, 1977 in Du Quoin, she married Tom Kelley.
She is survived by her husband Tom, their three children - John Kelley and wife Akiyo, Bryan Kelley, and Kathleen Heine, five grandchildren - Kylie Harvey, Hannah Kelley, Mari Kelley, Eri Kelley, and Uriah Heine, and three sisters - Mary Childress, Virginia Ford and husband John, and Martha Blacker Willi, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, mother-in-law - Glenna Kelley, and father-in-law - Bert Kelley.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, March 25, 2024 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin with Fr. Carl Schrage officiating.
Friends may call from 1 to 4 P.M., Sunday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 A.M., Monday at the Church.
Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Du Quoin.
Memorials may be made in Chris' name to Perry County Transition to Hope at 31 South Division Street in Du Quoin.
