David L. McKinnies passed away December 15th, 2023 at Carbondale Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 17th, 1963 in Du Quoin. He was the son of Rev. CL McKinnies and Wilma D. McKinnies.
He married his high school sweetheart Angie Anheuser on December 11th, 1982 and they celebrated 41 years together. He was a member of The United Pentecostal Church of Du Quoin where he sang, played the drums, taught Sunday School, and drove the church bus for many years.  David had been an organ donor.
David worked alongside his dad in the used car business for more than 30 years. Most recently, he worked as a driver for SCT and truly cared for his riders. In his free time, he could be found at the car auctions, on the golf course, or spending time with his family. He had a big heart for people in need and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters Catrina Prather and Andrea McKinnies (Jumor Reed), one sister LaVonna Kerly, two brothers Chuck (Merla) McKinnies and Rev. Dan (Karla) McKinnies, one sister in law Marsha McKinnies, grandchildren Chloe Prather, Bailey Harsy, Jake Prather, Cannon Spiller, Marcus and Jace Reed. He was also blessed with one Great Granddaughter Presley Kay Prather. David loved his family and all of his many nieces and nephews. Each held a special spot in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mother In Law Telvi Wenzel, one brother Rev. John McKinnies, and one sister Connie Hughes.
Visitation will be held Wednesday December 20th, 2023 at The United Pentecostal Church of Du Quoin from 5pm to 8pm. A private graveside service will be held Thursday for family only.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lucas Evans Memorial Scholarship Fund.
