Obituary

Deb M. Pick exited.
Finally the world can start healing from 60 years of trauma because the old hag gave in to death at 9:41 A.M., Sunday, March 16, 2025 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Contrary to popular belief, she was born, not hatched, on May 4, 1964 to Edith Marie (Beck) and Ted Pick of Pinckneyville.
From the time she could walk, Deb loved animals and spoiled the farm critters as much as she could.  She drove a tractor at age 4, milked cows at age 5, and she could pick up 150 pound tractor weights and operate every implement on the farm by age 13.
Deb was both valedictorian and soloist at her 8th grade graduation from 204 and honor student at Pinckneyville 101 Class of 1982.
She wanted to take over the farm but her dad said no.  This led to a career in food service and if you have ever seen Deb in person, there was NO doubt she excelled at cookin'!!  She also was half of the coroner's office for eight years, a job she cherished because she could help people.
Deb also loved the limelight and was a 3rd generation fixture in the local Mardi Gras parade for almost 50 years.  She apparently had a knack for entertainment too because she was known for her singing ability and her bag lady routine.
Deb was married to Jeff Blair for 10 1/2 years.
Then her greatest achievement in life happened after 2 1/2 years of marriage to Charles Allen Rawson.  A pure miracle baby girl was born November 4, 2007.  A short 8 months later, Deb was PETRIFIED and clueless how to raise her miracle girl by herself.  Through lots of prayer and millions of tears, God and Deb did it!!!  El is now the finest young woman Deb knows.  She is unbelievably proud of her beautiful, smart, hard workin', animal lovin' daughter.
Deb's butt print was etched into the back pew of Zion Lutheran Church for decades.  She was baptized, confirmed, and active in the church.  She served as voters secretary and church secretary for years.
Deb was preceded in death by both parents and a host of relatives.
Visitation won't be your average event.  Lively dance music and snacks are on slate for the night visitation, in honor of Deb's love of dancing and singin'.  There will be NO funeral dinner, per Deb and El's request.  She will be thrown into the ground at Mueller Hill.
Deb is survived by one daughter - Ellie Pick, niece, nephew, brother-in-law, sister, host of cousins, lots of spoiled rotten pets and a few friends including but not limited to Kevin McDermott, James and Patti Wittenauer, Suzy Heape, staff at 204 School and church members.
To list all the people that supported Deb and Ellie would take several stacks of paper, so Deb only listed the ones in the closest circle to Ellie.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa with Pastor Roger Marshall officiating.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M., Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.
Burial will be in the Mueller Hill Cemetery in Pinckneyville, IL.
Friends may make memorials to Perry County Humane Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
