Dennis F. Pestka, 68, of Du Bois, passed away at 11:01 P.M., Friday, November 3, 2023 at his residence.
Dennis had been an educator and coal miner.  He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Du Bois.  Dennis was an avid fisherman, mechanic and woodworker.  He loved to mow grass and enjoyed finding a good bargain on Amazon.  Dennis loved watching his grandson play baseball.
He was born November 13, 1954 in Du Quoin, IL, the son of Frank and Dolores (Waldman) Pestka.
He married Charlotte Huggins on September 2, 1978 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tamaroa, IL and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Bois, two daughters - Paige Pestka and husband Jorge Pino of Ave Maria, FL and Brittany Numi and husband Michael of Du Bois, two grandchildren that were his pride and joy - Jake and Jordyn Numi, two sisters - Sharon Boczek of Mt. Vernon and Pam Higgerson and husband Doug of Pinckneyville, two nephews - Darren Boczek and Michael Boczek, both of Mt. Vernon, and one brother-in-law - Jon Huggins and wife Diana of Swanwick.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law - Rick Boczek.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Friends may make memorials to the Perry County Humane Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
