Donald Eugene Buhrmester, 85, of Du Quoin, formerly of Nashville, IL, passed away at 7:27 A.M., Saturday, June 4, 2022 at the Coulterville Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
Don had retired from Ligma in Nashville, where "Spike" worked in maintenance. He had also been custodian at Grace United Methodist Church in Nashville. Don had also been bell ringer at the church. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Du Quoin. Don and his wife Shirley had owned a lawn mowing business, which he loved. He enjoyed repairing lawn equipment and small engines. Don was a member of the Nashville Moose Lodge #2560.
He was born June 18, 1936 in Nashville, IL, the son of Walter and Janice (Richards) Buhrmester.
He married Roberta Wreath on April 15, 1956 and she preceded him in death. He then married Shirley (Fisher) Rowell on February 15, 1986 and she preceded him in death on March 30, 2022.
He is survived by one daughter - Donna Kay Buhrmester of Nashville, IL, one step daughter - Denise McWhorter of Du Quoin, one step son - Charles Rowell and wife Christina of Dowell, two brothers - Leslie Buhrmester of Avon, IN and Ray Buhrmester and wife Tona of Shelbyville, IL, five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, one brother - Robert Buhrmester and one sister-in-law - Grace Buhrmester.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, June 9, 2022 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. April Turner officiating.
Friends may call from 9 A.M. until the time of service on Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Nashville, IL.
Friends may make memorials to the Perry County Humane Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
