Obituary

Dorotha Mae Reynolds, 85, of Du Quoin, formerly of Anna, passed away at 10:34 P.M., Friday, April 8, 2022 at the SIH Herrin Hospital in Herrin, IL surrounded by her family.
Dorotha had been a homemaker. Her happiest times were when the house was full of family laughing, talking and watching the grandkids running and playing everywhere. Dorotha was known by all who knew her and met her as the sweetest, most caring, wisest, loving, and fun woman. She also had a gentle spirit and handled every obstacle she faced with grace and strength. She was a woman of faith and depended on the Lord. She was a member of the Gospel Assembly Church in Du Quoin and formerly in Anna. She always guided her family gently toward God. According to her family, the scripture that best depicts her is Prov. 31:28 - "Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her." All who knew her, loved her. She left a lasting impression on so many that she encountered throughout her life, even up until her last hours on this Earth.
She was born December 27, 1936 in Tallapoosa, MO, the daughter of George and Jennie (Eads) Raney.
She married her sweetheart, Jimmie Jerald Reynolds on February 14, 1953 at Energy, IL and he survives. They shared 69 blessed years together.
She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin, one daughter - Karen Holden and husband Gaylen of Du Quoin, five grandchildren - Brandon Reynolds (Traci), Rachel Holden Sargent (Jeremy), Nick Reynolds, Elizabeth Holden Gillespie (Ryan) and Jerald Reynolds, nine great grandchildren and one on the way, two sisters - Linda Cook and Ann Upchurch, sister-in-law - Betty Jo Raney, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son - Steve Reynolds and one brother - Jerry Raney.
