Earlene Stephens, 91, of Du Quoin, passed away at 8:40 P.M., Thursday, December 3, 2020 at the Du Quoin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Earlene had been a bookkeeper in the banking industry. She had attended the First Christian Church in Du Quoin.

She was born January 20, 1929 at Du Quoin, IL, the daughter of Dallas Earl and Helen (Wheeler) Cavitt.

She married Gene Stephens on July 9, 1950 at Du Quoin, IL and he preceded her in death on June 27, 2009.

She is survived by one son - Larry Gene Stephens of Du Quoin, grandchildren - Tracy Stephens, Amy Caraker and husband Shannon of Du Quoin, Drew Stephens and wife Jessica of Du Quoin, and Jennifer Kelly and husband Jordan of Springfield, IL, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son - Michael Gene Stephens, one brother - Dean Cavitt, and two great grandchildren - Sidnee Stephens and Zachary Jeremiah.

Per Earlene's request, cremation rites were accorded.

Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at a later date.

Friends may make memorials to the Perry County Humane Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
