Elizabeth M. VanZandt, 91, of Dowell, passed away at 8:48 A.M., Saturday, December 12, 2020 at the Du Quoin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Du Quoin.

Elizabeth had been a homemaker. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin.

She was born February 27, 1929 at Harco, IL, the daughter of Steve and Margaret (Toth) Boros.

Elizabeth married James A. VanZandt on December 24, 1946 at Henderson, KY and he preceded her in death on December 4, 1998.

She is survived by one daughter - Elizabeth Kay VanZandt and Jean of Carterville, two sons - James Russell VanZandt of Du Quoin and Brett Tyrone VanZandt and Sandy of Herrin, one son-in-law - John Funk of Elkville, ten grandchildren - Trenton Funk and Alison, Stefani Hasselbring and Doug, Toni Kay Wright and Stacey, Christa Thompson and Aaron, Jami Valier and Steve, Jason VanZandt and Jill, Jordan VanZandt and Dason, Jennifer Mitchell and Nicholas, Dylan VanZandt and Michelle and Garrett VanZandt and Lora, sixteen great grandchildren - Tyler, Clayton and Reese Funk, Hadley and Harper Hasselbring, Brayden and Camden Wright, Maddax and Anniston Thompson, Lane and Sydney Valier, Jaxon, Jameson and Jake VanZandt, Aiden and Liam Mitchell, one brother - Steve Boros of De Soto, one sister - Mary Dale of Dowell, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter - Cheryl Ann Funk, one brother - John Boros and one sister - Rose Phillips.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, December 17, 2020 at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Du Quoin with Fr. Joseph Oganda officiating.

Friends may call from 9:30 A.M. until time of service at the cemetery on Thursday.

Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the Sacred Heart Cemetery or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
