Elsie Norene (Smith) Depue passed away at Du Quoin Nursing and Rehab Center in Du Quoin, Illinois on Friday, October 22, 2021. She passed away peacefully with some of her family by her side.
Elsie was born in Mason City, Illinois to Ira R. and Josephine (Fletcher) Smith on May 29, 1923.
Elsie married Thompson Depue, Sr. on November 12, 1940 in Keokuk, Iowa. They celebrated 62 wonderful years of marriage.
They had 7 children, Sandra (Victor) Mainwal (1944-2021) Delores (Allen) Davison, Helen (Mike) Schubert, Thompson (Leanna) Depue Jr. (1950-2017), George (Lynda) Depue, April (Dan) Wilson and Patricia (Bob) Norton.
Elsie had a total of 20 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren and lots of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, daughter, 2 grandsons, 1 great granddaughter, 1 great-great granddaughter, 2 sons-in-laws, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Elsie retired from Turco Mfg. Co. in 1980's. She made many friends there.
Elsie always had a smile for everyone. She loved to talk, she loved people.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
