Eric Wayne McRoy, 55, of Du Quoin, passed away at 4:45 A.M., Monday, February 3, 2025 at his residence.
Eric had been a mechanic for Continental Tire.  He had worked for twelve years as a police officer for the City of Du Quoin.
He was born September 19, 1969, in Belleville, IL, the son of Penny (McRoy) Edie.
He married Bobbi Bytnar on July 1, 2017 at the Liberty Church in Du Quoin and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, two children - Tyler McRoy of Mt. Vernon and Breanna Shafer and husband Caleb of Bluford, two grandchildren - Hazel Shafer and Parker Shafer, both of Bluford, his mother - Penny Edie of Pinckneyville, one sister - Meredith Edie and Scott Jonas of Pinckneyville, one brother - Andrew Edie of Pinckneyville, three nephews - Austin Edie, Cameron Edie, and Braden Edie, and father-in-law - Bob Bytnar of Du Quoin.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents - Lester and Mary McRoy.
Per Eric's request, there will be no public services held.
Private family burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin, IL.
Friends may make memorials to Perry County Humane Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
