Eugene C. Waldman, 88, of Du Bois, passed away at 2:55 A.M., Sunday, August 25, 2024 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.
Gene had been a postal worker for the United States Postal Service.  He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Du Bois.  Gene was also a member of Knights of Columbus in Du Bois.  He enjoyed fishing, gardening, farming and being outside with his dog.
He was born March 16, 1936 in Du Quoin, IL, the son of Edwin C. and Martha (Glazik) Waldman.
He married Patricia A. LaCicero on June 14, 1975 in Du Bois, IL and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Bois, two children - Shelly Shearer and fiancé Chris of Benton, IL and David Waldman and wife Lenea of Nettleton, MS, seven grandchildren - Zach Waldman and wife Jessica of Tennessee, Kourtnie Hearn and husband Adam of Mississippi, Brent Waldman of Tennessee, Kimberly Weedon of Benton, Taylor Ing and husband Drew of Akin, IL, Tyler Hagston of Owensboro, KY, and Blake Weedon of Benton, IL, and eleven great grandchildren - Caleb Waldman, Jacob Waldman, Landon Waldman, Olivia Rose, Brooklynn Wilkerson, Ryleigh Hagston, Tynslee Hagston, Kaycee Hagston, Kaitlyn Einspahr, MaLeya Ing, and Rhyan D. Ing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister - Delores Pestka, and one brother - Earnest Waldman.
Private family services will be held.
Friends may make memorials to St. Charles Catholic Church or Alzheimer's Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
