George Edward Dunson, 66, of Du Quoin, passed away at 12:15 P.M., Thursday, February 20, 2025 at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
George had worked at General Cable in Du Quoin as a strander operator before retiring due to illness.  He was a member of Friendship Church of Christ in Tamaroa.  George loved the Lord and was the best husband and father.  He loved gardening, fishing, and going on adventures.
He was born May 15, 1958 in Du Quoin, IL, the son of Clarence and Fay (Ferguson) Dunson.
He married Tena Keller on July 3, 1992 at Friendship Church of Christ in Tamaroa and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, children - Amanda Sowers and husband Joshua of West Frankfort, IL, Rebecca Wyrsch and husband Joseph of Philadelphia, PA, Thomas Dunson and fiancé Alexandra Gauthier of Du Quoin, and Samuel Dunson and wife Breana of Du Quoin, two brothers - Billy Joe Dunson and wife Virginia of Corpus Christi, TX and Scott Keller of Neosho, MO, one sister - Kelly Tripp and husband Chadd of Trinity, NC, one granddaughter - Leia Bryant-White and husband Dawson of Carbondale, IL, father-in-law and mother-in-law - "Pa" Gene Keller and "Grandma" Ruth Keller of Neosho, MO, numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, February 27, 2025 at the Friendship Church of Christ in Tamaroa with Jack Knapp officiating.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M., Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin and from 9 A.M. until the time of service on Thursday at the church.
Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery in Tamaroa, IL.
Friends may make memorials to Perry County Humane Society or Friendship Church of Christ and will be accepted at the funeral home.
