Gerald L. Butcher, 75, of Pinckneyville, passed away at 3:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at the St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Gerald had been a machinist at Consol Coal Company and Technicolor. Gerald was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of UMWA. Gerald was a United States Navy veteran of Vietnam.
He was born September 6, 1946 at Murphysboro, IL, the son of George and Martha (Gregory) Butcher.
He married Charlene F. Lunnemann on April 19, 1969 at Pinckneyville and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Pinckneyville and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, sisters and one brother, all who died in the tornado in December of 1957 at Murphysboro. His father also preceded him in death.
Per Gerald's request, cremation rites were accorded.
There will be no public visitation or funeral service.
Friends may make memorials to the Caring and Sharing Thrift Store in Pinckneyville and will be accepted at the funeral home.
