Gerald Stanford Woodsides, 81, of Elkville, passed away at 4:25 P.M., Thursday, January 23, 2025 at the SIH Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, IL.
Gerald had been a welder at Consol #5 Coal Mine.  He was of the Baptist faith.  Gerald was a member of UMWA and Du Quoin Masonic Lodge.  He enjoyed welding, fishing and hunting.  Gerald loved his AGCO tractor.
He was born December 7, 1943 in Du Quoin, IL, the son of Carl Raymond and Cora (Wright) Woodsides.
He married Diana Lynn Wright on February 29, 1964 in Du Quoin, IL and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Elkville, one daughter - Dawnyelle George and husband Denny of Du Quoin, two sons - Guy Woodsides and Ashley Sanders of Elkville, and Chance Woodsides and wife Denise of Du Quoin, five grandchildren - Laci, Kayston, Mackenzie, Gabriel, and Kinlee, four great grandchildren - DaSani, RJ, Jayceon, and Della, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers - Charles, Donald, and Bill, and one sister - Betty June Flint.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, January 30, 2025 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M., Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial will be in the Old Du Quoin Cemetery in Du Quoin, IL.
Friends may make memorials to Alzheimer's Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
