Obituary

Jason Allen Loucks, 48, of Du Quoin, passed away at 7:20 A.M., Monday, August 24, 2026 at his residence.
Jason was born on December 12, 1977, in Du Quoin, Illinois, to Linda Diane (Loucks) Bird.
As a young man, Jason enjoyed playing baseball, tennis and loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing and hunting with his stepfather, Marlin. He was also a remarkably talented artist who could sit down with a pencil and draw a portrait of nearly anything. His artistic ability was a special gift and something those who knew him will always remember.  Jason also had a love for animals.
Jason had a good heart and a caring spirit. Life was not always easy, but those who truly knew him knew the kindness within him. He was the kind of person who would help someone however he could and would give what he had to those he cared about.
More than anything, Jason was a son, a brother, an uncle, and a loved member of his family. His life was more than the difficult moments he faced, and he will be remembered for his heart, his talents, the things that brought him happiness, and the memories he leaves behind.
Jason is survived by his mother, Linda Bird; his sister, Megan Atkins; one niece and two nephews; along with his aunts, uncles, many cousins, and other family and friends who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Marlin Bird; his grandparents Idas and Loren Horton; and one uncle, Dennis Loucks.
In accordance with Jason's wishes, cremation will take place. Graveside services will be at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, September 12, 2026 at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Du Quoin.  A dinner will follow the service at Jason's sister's home.
Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Du Quoin, Illinois.
Jason will be deeply missed, but those who loved him will carry his memory with them always. May he be remembered with grace for the life he lived, the love he gave, and the person he was at heart.
Friends may make memorials to the Perry County Humane Society or Searby Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses and will be accepted at the funeral home.
Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin is in charge of arrangements.
