Joshua M. Harsy, 33, of Du Quoin, passed away at 2:58 A.M., Sunday, December 24, 2017 at his residence.

Josh was a Deputy with the Perry County Sheriff's Department for sixteen years. He had attained the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin. He had been a member of the Knights of Columbus in Du Quoin. Josh was an avid Cubs Fan, enjoyed astrology, kayaking, music and working out. He also enjoyed traveling and learning about other cultures. Josh enjoyed cooking and trying all types of foods. He loved his dogs, cats, chickens and ducks. Most of all, he loved his beloved daughter, Cora.

He was born January 29, 1984 at Pinckneyville, IL, the son of Jerry D. and Rita Rene (Miller) Harsy.

He is survived by his daughter - Cora Harsy of Du Quoin, his father - Jerry D. Harsy of Du Quoin, one sister - Rachel Rutherford and husband Daniel of Du Quoin, his grandmother - Matilda Harsy of Du Quoin, his Godmother - Alicia Miller of Pinckneyville, one nephew - Cash Rutherford of Du Quoin, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin with Fr. Joseph Oganda officiating.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M., Thursday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin and from 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. on Friday at the church. Close friends will be sharing memories from 10:30 A.M. until the time of service on Friday at the church.

Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the Education Fund for his daughter, Cora, with donations made payable to Rachel Rutherford or to the Sacred Heart Cemetery Fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.
