Kay Ellen Atkins, 73, of Du Quoin, passed away at 12:05 P.M., Saturday, April 4, 2026 at the SIH Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
Kay had been a homemaker.  She was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church in Du Quoin.  Kay enjoyed crocheting, sewing, crafting, and jigsaw puzzles.  She also enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was born September 28, 1952 in Du Quoin, IL, the daughter of Raymond and Anna Louise (Cavins) Kennedy.
She married Brian D. Atkins on December 14, 2009 in Mt. Vernon, IL and he preceded her in death.
She is survived by three children - Jason Vancil and Brandi, Amy Ramsey and Jason, and Renee Browning and Christopher, all of Du Quoin, step daughter - Ericka Atkins of Du Quoin, step son - Travis Atkins and Tina of Du Quoin, grandniece - Meleny Rucks of Du Quoin, nine grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister - Carol Dickens.
Private family interment service will be held at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Du Quoin at a later date.
