Kenneth Wesley Johnson, 78, of Du Quoin, passed away at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.
He worked as a coal miner at Peabody Coal Company. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Du Quoin and the American Legion. Kenneth had been a United States Navy Veteran.
Kenneth was born December 17, 1944 in Waterfort, OH, the son of Luphfer W. and Ida Pearl (Haner) Johnson.
He married Patricia A. Palmer on February 20, 1971 at the Second Baptist Church in Du Quoin and she survives.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, son - Alan Dale Wesley Johnson of Gulf Port, MS, daughter - Crystal Dawn Johnson of Springfield, IL, granddaughter - Brittany Freeman and husband Joshua of Dongola, IL, three great grandchildren, sister - Nina Miliam and husband Leroy of Redlands, CA, sister-in-law - Norma Johnson of Du Quoin, IL and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister - Diane Orosco, and two brothers - John Johnson and Richard Johnson.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, March 20, 2023 at the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin with Rev. Jim Endsley officiating.
Those attending the service are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin V.F.W and American Legion and the United States Navy.
Friends may make memorials to the Perry County Humane Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
