Kenneth L. Simmons, 88, of Du Quoin, passed away at 2:10 P.M., Monday, April 28, 2025 at the Fairview Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Du Quoin.
Kenneth had been a laborer.  He was of the Methodist faith.  Kenny loved being around family and friends.  Kenneth's favorite past time was riding his bicycle around town backwards while sitting on his handlebars.
He was born October 29, 1936 in Du Quoin, IL, the son of Earl and Leola (Harris) Simmons.
He is survived by one sister - Shirley Williams of Du Quoin, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers - Pvt. Emmanuel Simmons, Earl Simmons, Jr., George Simmons, Edward Simmons, Leamon Simmons, Rev. Robert Simmons, and Carl Simmons, and sisters - Rev. Bessie Bledsoe, Irene Dunklin, Lorretta Bailey, Genevie Louise Simmons, Dimple Simmons, Mary Jones, and Birdie Robinson.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 9, 2025 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Paul Dunklin officiating.
Friends may call from 10 A.M. until the time of service on Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Du Quoin, IL.
Friends may make memorials to Smith Memorial Methodist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
