L. Carrel Schirmer, 89, of Du Quoin, passed away at 4:45 P.M., Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.
Carrel had been a receptionist at Dr. Jenkins office for over 30 years.  She was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church and the LWML.
She was born December 7, 1933 in Portageville, MO, the daughter of Sydney and Lois "Ethel" (Davidson) Davis.
Carrel married Paul E. Schirmer on September 11, 1954 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in St. Louis and he preceded her in death on February 2, 2008.
She is survived by two daughters- Kathi McCord and husband Dennis of Carbondale, Kristi Schirmer of New Braunfels, TX, son- Paul D. Schirmer and wife Jenny of Winfield, KS, three grandchildren - Megan Wykhuis and husband Aaron of Oak Creek, CO, Paul R. Schirmer and wife Sandy of Longview, WA, and Scott Schirmer of Sherman Oaks, CA, three great grandchildren - Clair Schirmer, Emmett Schirmer, and Weston Wykhuis, brother - Gerald Davis and wife LaNell of Wardell, MO, and sister - Jeannie Blissenbach of Fults, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 14, 2023 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Friends may call from 5-7 P.M., Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Chester following the service.
Friends may make memorials to Our Savior Lutheran Church or Bethel Lutheran Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
