Lawrence LaVern Pyle, 99, of Du Quoin, passed away at 8:00 A.M., Saturday, March 30, 2024 at his residence.

Lawrence had been a meat cutter at Kroger's for 46 years.  He attended the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin and was a mason.

He was born December 5, 1924 in Carmi, IL, the son of Jasper and Pearl (Creek) Pyle.

Lawrence married Betty Lou McGhee on June 8, 1946, in Carmi, IL and she preceded him in death on December 15, 2010.

He is survived by his daughter – Brenda Jokisch and husband Bruce of Du Quoin, daughter–in–law – Linda Pyle of Columbus, MS, five grandchildren – Michelle Gard of Ringgold, GA, Steve Pyle and wife Crystal of Caledonia, MS, Brandi Vancil and husband Jason of Du Quoin, Brent Jokisch of Edwardsville, Brianne Mason and husband Josh of Pomona, IL, eleven great-grandchildren – Jessica Nelson, Brent Pyle, Madison Oakden, Briley Pyle, Kennedy Pyle, Haley Williams, Ryker Vancil, Jaylen Jokisch, Brayden Jokisch, Brody Mason, and Steele Mason, sister – Kathryn Bryant, one special nephew – Leonard Lee Pyle and wife Dotty, and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter – La Donna Gard, son – Larry Pyle, grandson – Jeff Pyle, sister – Mary Emily Pyle, and one brother – Leonard Pyle.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.

Friends may call from 9 A.M. until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at the Kuykendall Cemetery and those attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery.

Burial will be in the Kuykendall Cemetery in Carmi, IL.

Friends may make memorials to the Alzheimer's Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
