Leonard E. Sanders, Jr., 77, of Du Quoin, passed away at 7:50 A.M., Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at his residence, in the Lord's house.
Leonard had been Pastor and member of Christ Pentecostal Temple Church in Du Quoin.  He had worked as a welder for Caterpillar from 1970 until 1995.  He had been a graduate of Elkville High School and he attained theological education.
He was born September 22, 1946 in Elkville, IL, the son of Leonard and Ina M. (Gude) Sanders, Sr.
He married Doris J. (Porter) Cooper on October 17, 1975 in Decatur, IL and she survives.
He is survived by his wife - Doris J. Sanders of Du Quoin, six children - Willie F. Cooper of Jacksonville, FL, Deanna Cooper Rowan of Augusta, GA, Lanetta P. Sanders Davis of Carbondale, Isiac I. Sanders of Carbondale, Kembria M. Sanders of Kenosha , WI, and Leonard L. Sanders of Kenosha, WI, sister - Lindell Kelly of Du Quoin, brother - Gerald Sanders of Elkville, brother-in-law - Leon Kelly of Du Quoin, sisters-in-law - Lula Landrum of Decatur, Ethel Washington of Memphis, TN, Alberta Joyner of Decatur, Mary Flourley of Decatur, and Dora Lee of Decatur, grandchildren - Jordyn Sanders, Jenisis Davis, Jermiah Davis, Kerensky Rowan, A'munni Shantrese Tiara Reese, many other grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be private with Rev. Willie Cooper and Rev. Leon Kelly officiating.

Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin at a later date.
