Leonard Ray Wohlwend, Sr., 72, of Du Quoin, passed away at 7:30 P.M., Thursday, February 18, 2021 at the SIH Memorial Hospital at Carbondale, IL.
Leonard had been a laborer for E.T. Simonds. He had also worked for Phelps Dodge. Leonard was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ in Du Quoin.
He was born August 20, 1948 at Murphysboro, IL, the son of Gerhardt E. and Alma G. (Porter) Wohlwend.
He married Carolyn M. Gale on June 20, 1971 at Du Quoin, IL and she preceded him in death on May 20, 2001.
He is survived by two sons - Leonard Ray Wohlwend, Jr. and Johnny Wohlwend, both of Du Quoin, three grandchildren - Dalton Wohlwend, Wade Wohlwend and Aylin Wohlwend, all of Du Quoin, and two sisters - Emma Jacoby of Christopher and Ruth Surman of Chester.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother - Paul Wohlwend.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Robert Morwell and Rev. Kent Eaton officiating.
Friends may call from 10 A.M. until the time of service on Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the St. John's United Church of Christ and will be accepted at the funeral home.
