Mary Ellen Fozard, 99, of Sparta, passed away at 9:15 P.M., Saturday, January 2, 2021 at the Cedarhurst of Sparta.
Mary Ellen had been a sales clerk at Hewitt Drug Store in Carbondale. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Carbondale. Mary Ellen had also been a member of PEO and bridge clubs.
She was born August 11, 1921 at Marion, IL, the daughter of Lee Harlan and Lillie (Roberts) Baysinger.
She married John Edward Fozard on February 21, 1946 at St. Louis, MO and he preceded her in death on May 26, 1986.
She is survived by one daughter - Gayle Jean North and husband Mark of Sparta, one son - Dr. J. Gregg Fozard and wife Karen of Pinckneyville, six grandchildren - Erin Hausmann and husband Nicholas, Andrew Fozard and wife Kristi, Mitchell North and wife Sarah, Eric North and wife Casey, Audree Keele and husband Lon, and Kirk Dauksch and wife Heather, twelve great grandchildren - Zoey and Noah Hausmann, Jackson and Anna Fozard, Lincoln and Harrison Keele, Kelsey Hamm, Austin Hamm, Thomas North, Cecilia North, Harrison North, and Calvin North.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and one sister.
Private family graveside services will be held on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion, IL with Rev. Karen Knodt officiating.

Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion, IL.
Friends may make memorials to the First Christian Church of Carbondale and will be accepted at the funeral home.
