Molly E. Kern, 36, of Du Quoin, passed away at 1:47 P.M., Saturday, December 31, 2022 at her residence.
Molly had been a secretary at Steve Marek Country Financial office for many years. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin. Molly was a member of Parish Council and active in PTO at school. She was also a teacher of PSR at the church.
She was born March 21, 1986 in Du Quoin, IL, the daughter of Tony and Shawn (O'Keefe) Kellerman.
She married Shawn D. Kern on November 7, 2009 at the Sunfield United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin, one son - Mason Kern, her parents - Tony and Shawn Kellerman of Du Quoin, one brother - Scott Kellerman and wife Brittnie of Du Quoin, grandmothers - Betty O'Keefe of Du Quoin and Matilda Harsy of Du Quoin, father-in-law and mother-in-law - David and Doris Kern of Du Quoin, special aunt - Kelley Craig of Du Quoin, nieces - Maggie Kellerman, Lucy Kellerman and Sophie Kellerman, brother-in-law - Trenton Kern of St. Louis, sister-in-law - Kaitlyn Kern of Carbondale, special cousins - Emily Melvin and Will Stephens and numerous other cousins, aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by grandparents - Gene and Aurelia Kellerman, Moe O'Keefe, Robert Harsy, Joseph and Mary Kern, aunt - Rita Harsy, and cousin Josh Harsy.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 P.M., Thursday, January 5, 2023 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin with Fr. Carl Schrage officiating.
Friends may call from 9 A.M. until the time of service on Thursday at the church.
Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the Education Fund for Mason Kern with donations made to Shawn Kern or Masses and will be accepted at the funeral home.
