Morris Leroy Green, 80, of Du Quoin, passed away at 5:22 A.M., Sunday, September 8, 2024 at his residence.
Morris had worked for the Du Quoin Street Department.  He enjoyed farming and was an avid squirrel hunter.  Morris loved spending time with his grandkids.  He was a United States Army veteran.  Morris was a member of the local labor union.
He was born March 22, 1944 in Du Quoin, IL, the son of Lester and Bernice (Gossett) Green.
He married Sherry (Newton) Elder on November 26, 1999 in Du Quoin, IL and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, six children - Eric Green and wife Brenda of Du Quoin, Jennifer Fox and husband Will of Murphysboro, Jeff Green and wife Sara of Du Quoin, Ryan Elder and wife Victoria of Du Quoin, Christopher Elder and wife Rhonda of Du Quoin, and Abby Sroka of Du Quoin, one brother - Frank Green and wife Debbie of Du Quoin, and fourteen grandchildren - Jacob Green, Gage Green, Ellee Green, Brynnlie Fox, Liam Fox, Blaire Fox, Levi Green, Beckham Green, Ethan Elder, Maxtan Elder, Nora Elder, Braxton Elder, Cruz Abel, and Lincoln Sroka.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother - Avis Green and two sisters - Vera Selby and Carolyn Harrison.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Ron Kreid.
Friends may call from 9 A.M. until the time of service on Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial will be in the Old Du Quoin Cemetery in Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
