Obituary

Nathan Garrett Longshore, 36, of Du Quoin, passed away at 2:37 A.M., Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at the St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Nate served our country from 2008 until 2012 in the United States Army.  He served in Afghanistan and was honorably discharged.
He was born May 1, 1988 in Anchorage, AK, the son of AbbieGayle Longshore.
You won't find a soberly written tribute here. Nate wasn't a somber guy.  He was wild, funny, complex, and compassionate, but also carrying the heavy weight of a few demons.  Snowboarding and skateboarding were his first adventures learned, and loved in Anchorage, Alaska.  He favored self expression through his chaotic and colorful paintings, and often loved working on his truck.
Nate made Du Quoin home while providing end of life care for his Grandpa David Longshore.
He is survived by one daughter - Leilani Longshore, his mother - AbbieGayle Longshore, step father - Terry Farrell, brother - Keegan Longshore, chosen brothers - Benjamin, Daniel, and Michael Birky, chosen sister - Kyra Lewis, uncle and aunt - Mark and Carole Longshore, cousins - Joshua Longshore and his daughter Tianna Longshore, and Andy Harper and his daughters Nico Harper, Amirrah Harper, and Kamorrah Harper, and his girlfriend - Sarah Edwards.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents - David and Madelon Longshore.
He is leaving behind hundreds of friends and family members who will miss him deeply.
Peace Out NateDawg.  You are loved.
There will be no public visitation or funeral service.
Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin is in charge of arrangements.
