Nathan Daniel "Possum, Jr." Bathon, 38, of Centralia, passed away at 10:05 P.M., Sunday, May 15, 2022 at the SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia.
Nathan had been a mental health tech II at Murray Center in Centralia. He was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Todds Mill. Possum, Jr. was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #2921 and 4th Degree Du Quoin Assembly #0195. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing pool, and throwing darts. Possum, Jr. was a good ole' country boy who would use his mechanic skills tinkering with cars, trucks and lawn mowers. He loved animals and spending time with others. Any time he spent with his girls he enjoyed very much, especially 4 wheeling.
He was born June 11, 1983 at Nashville, IL, the son of Donald and Mary Ann (Bartoszkiewicz) Bathon.
He married CheriAnn Dickinson on January 17, 2020 at Marion, IL and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Centralia, two daughters - Kaleigh Hull and Maci Ann Bierman, both of Centralia, his mom - Mary Ann Bathon of Tamaroa, one sister - Lana Bathon of Pinckneyville, goddaughter - Ella Bathon of Pinckneyville, grandfather - Alfred Bathon (Doris) of Tamaroa, mother-in-law and father-in-law - Sabrina and James Radcliffe of Centralia, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts.
He was preceded in death by his father - Donald, paternal grandmother - Ella Bathon, maternal grandparents - Edward and Bertha Bartoszkiewicz, godmother - Patricia Przygoda, uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at the St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Todds Mill with Fr. Carl Schrage officiating.
Friends may call from 9 AM. until the time of service on Wednesday at the church.
Burial will be in the St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery at Todds Mill, IL.
Friends may make memorials to the family for funeral expenses with donations made to CheriAnn Bathon or Mary Ann Bathon and will be accepted at the funeral home.
