Nelda Nadine Borchelt, 87, of Tamaroa, passed away at 6:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at the SIH Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
Nelda had worked as a seamstress at Country Set and Bridal Originals.  She was of the Christian faith.  Nelda enjoyed walking and gardening.  She always saw the good in everything and everyone and thought of every child as her grandchild.
She was born April 14, 1939 in Malden, MO, the daughter of Shirley Owen and Maybell (Snow) Stratton.
She married Robert Lee Borchelt I on May 4, 1957 in Hoyleton, IL and he preceded her in death on May 23, 1993.
She is survived by one son - Robert Borchelt II and wife Rita of Tamaroa, one daughter - Robin Nowakowski and husband Paul of Tucson, AZ, four grandchildren - Joshua Nowakowski and Mallory of Sacrament, CA, Robbie Borchelt and Vanessa of Paducah, KY, Randel Kurtz and Jessica of Tamaroa and Rachel Kurtz of Tamaroa, and fourteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son - Randy Borchelt, and one sister - Juanita Richardson.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, May 11, 2026 at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa with her son, Robert Borchelt II officiating.
Friends may call from 9 A.M. until the time of service on Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.
Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin, IL.
Friends may make memorials to the American Heart Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
