Oetta J. Schwarz, 90, of Pinckneyville, passed away at 8:40 P.M., Monday, July 24, 2023 at the SIH Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Oetta had been a homemaker and stay-at-home mom.  She was a member of the Lutheran Church in Pinckneyville.  Oetta enjoyed babysitting, her family and her dogs.
She was born April 2, 1933 in Du Quoin, IL, the daughter of Thomas and Ollie (Emling) Johnson.
She married Everett L. Schwarz on November 13, 1954 in Pinckneyville, IL and he preceded her in death on May 2, 2019.
She is survived by one daughter - Debbie L. Mifflin and husband Charlie of Du Quoin, one son - Jim Schwarz and wife Sheri Kattenbraker-Schwarz of Lake of Egypt, IL, two grandchildren - Josh Korando and wife Bekki and Sarah Dean and husband Josh, four great grandchildren - Emma, Molly, Mya, and Macy, and four siblings - Laura Varnum, Sonny Johnson, Pete Johnson, and Judy Keller.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and two sisters.
Private services will be held.
Burial will be in the Holts Prairie Cemetery in Pinckneyville, IL.
Friends may make memorials to Century Assisted Living in Carbondale and will be accepted at the funeral home.
