Robert Ray Falkenhein, 72, of Steeleville, passed away at 10:58 A.M., Friday, June 11, 2021 at the Marion VA Medical Center in Marion, IL.
Robert was an operator at Valley Steel until it closed. He then worked as an operator at Gilster-Mary Lee until his retirement. Robert was a Sergeant in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of Vietnam.
He was born May 31, 1949 at Red Bud, IL, the son of Raymond and Lucia (Kleopper) Falkenhein.
He married Cathy E. Cowsert in 1977 at Randolph County and she preceded him in death on March 15, 2020.
He is survived by one daughter - April Stanley of Pinckneyville, one son - Robert Falkenhein, Jr. of Steeleville, six grandchildren - David Stanley, Austin Stanley, Amber Stanley, Autumn Stanley, Ariel Stanley and J. Falkenhein, three great grandchildren - Brycen Creekpaum, Liam Creekpaum (baby on the way), and Wyatt Heape, four siblings - Norma Pellman and husband Ron of Belleville, Harvey Falkenhein of Baldwin, IL, Marilyn Langrehr and husband Karl of Prairie du Rocher, IL, and Kenny Falkenhein and wife Cindy of Steeleville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one step son - Michael Cowsert, and one sister-in-law - Pat Falkenhein.
Per Robert's request, cremation rites will be accorded.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 10, 2021 at the Paradise Cemetery at Steeleville, IL with family and friends conducting the service.
Burial will be in the Paradise Cemetery at Steeleville, IL.
Friends may make memorials to the Marion VA Medical Center and will be accepted at the funeral home.
