Rolla Cecil "Sonny" Moyers, 82, of Du Quoin, passed away at 1:16 A.M., Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the SIH Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
Sonny had been a retired United States Navy veteran of Vietnam, serving for twenty years. He was an over-the-road truck driver and a local truck driver. He was a member of DAV - Franklin County Chapter 51.
He was born November 21, 1938 at Christopher, IL, the son of Rollie O. and Mary Frances (Thomas) Moyers.
He married Janet Kay Gass on July 27, 1977 at Las Vegas, NV and she preceded him in death on July 5, 2001. He then married Martha N. (Brayfield) Ashauer on October 12, 2002 at Du Quoin, IL and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, one daughter - Shannon Stevens of San Diego, CA, one granddaughter - Kaleigh Stevens Murphy of San Diego, CA, one sister - Faye Collier of Tucson, AZ, and one sister-in-law - Margie Walker of Christopher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, infant son - Rusty Moyers, two brothers - Dick Walker and Larry Eckhartt, and one brother-in-law - Roy Collier.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, June 24, 2021 at the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery at Benton with Rev. Gerald Wright officiating.
Those attending the service are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by the United States Navy.
Burial will be in the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery at Benton, IL.
Friends may make memorials to the Perry County Humane Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
