Obituary

Rose Marie Skorch, passed away ever so peacefully in her haven on Skorch Farm on Wednesday, April 27, 2022. She was born Rose Marie Powers September 20, 1942 at Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Clarence and Lois (Riley) Powers. In Chicago, Rose met the love of her life, Thomas Paul Skorch. They married on October 20, 1962 and he predeceased her in 2015. The majority of their family life was spent in DuBois, Illinois, where they raised their children. Rose is survived by her son, Thomas Scot Skorch of Nashville, Illinois; daughter, Paula Marie Skorch and special friend Jeff Hundley of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; grandson Tyler James (Cassie) Skorch of Tamaroa, Illinois; one great-granddaughter Oaklie Faith Skorch; one great-granddaughter due in September 2022: Vallie Rose Skorch; and several nieces and nephews. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, sister Barbara Caparelli and husband Angelo, sister Elizabeth Cosentino and husband Silvio, brother-in-law Walter Skorch, sister-in-law Ardith Skorch, and one nephew Steven Skorch. For as long as she could be, Rose was always active. Road trips were a favorite pastime. No matter where and when, she was always ready to go make memories. Rose will be remembered for her love and loyalty to her family, she left a lasting impression on anyone who met and knew her. She was a gracious hostess and was truly in her element in the kitchen. She knew how to cook absolutely anything and make it taste amazing, whether it had fur, feathers or fins. Even though she was rough around the edges and sometimes the words that rolled off of her tongue were a bitter pill to swallow, she had a heart of gold on the inside. Rose's love language was eating and drinking and that's how she showed love to everyone she met. Anyone who walked through the doors at the farm was welcomed. When you visited the farm, you were always offered a drink or a bite to eat or a place to rest if needed. As time went on and Rose could no longer captain the ship as she had for so many years, she did not relinquish her post. Oh no. She wielded power from her post perched atop the trusty stool at the end of kitchen bar. That way she could keep an ear to whatever gossip was being dished. Even though Rose won't be there to greet visitors at the farm anymore, her legacy will live on as Tyler and his growing family fill the house with love and laughter and celebrate family traditions to forever keep her spirit alive.
