Ruby Dennis, 97, of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:12 A.M., Thursday, September 15, 2022 at the Rochester Estates in Rochester, IL.
Ruby had been a seamstress at Country Set and Bridal Originals. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin, where she was a Sunday School teacher.
She was born May 2, 1925 in Ava, IL, the daughter of Otis and Margaret (Ditzler) Crain.
She married Charles Dennis on January 4, 1947 at Pinckneyville, IL and he preceded her ten years ago on September 15, 2012.
She is survived by one daughter - Beth Stephens of Marion, IL, three grandchildren - Dustin Scholebo and wife Amber of Benton, Jason Scholebo and fiancé Jessica Dautel of Du Quoin and Jennifer Stephens of Chatham, IL, one sister-in-law - Amanda Hamburger of Herrin, IL, several great grandchildren and her special friends - all the caregivers at Rochester Estates.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and three sisters.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, September 19, 2022 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.
Friends may call from 9 A.M. until the time of service on Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin and will be accepted at the funeral home.
