Sharon R. Zimmerman, 80, of Du Quoin, passed away at 11:40 P.M., Sunday, March 24, 2024 at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
Sharon had been a homemaker.  She had been co-owner of Ben Franklin Dime Store in Carterville.  Sharon had also been jewelry manager for Lowells Jewelry in Marion.  She was a member of Bailey Baptist Church in Wayne City, IL.
She was born August 30, 1943 in Cisne, IL, the daughter of Ralph and Ruth (Peddicord) Barnard.
She married Richard M. Zimmerman on October 3, 1963 in Cisne, IL and he survives.
She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin, one son - Dr. Richard Wayne Zimmerman and wife Michelle of Du Quoin, four grandchildren - Alex Zimmerman of Du Quoin, Max Zimmerman of Du Quoin, Drew Bennett of Arizona, and Anthony Bennett and wife Taylor of Pinckneyville, great grandchildren - Austen Bennett and Rory Bennett, and one brother - Bob Barnard of Cisne, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers - Dale Barnard and wife Kay and David Paul Barnard and wife Joyce.
Private graveside services will be held at the Old Du Quoin Cemetery in Du Quoin with Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.
Burial will be in the Old Du Quoin Cemetery in Du Quoin, IL.
Friends may make memorials to Du Quoin High School Baseball Team and will be accepted at the funeral home.
