Shirley M. Pearl, affectionately known as Zanny or Springerbaby, 65, of Cobden, passed away peacefully at 11:07 A.M., Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at the Du Quoin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on December 22, 1958, in Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt, Germany, she was the beloved daughter of Raymond Henry and Helga Susanna (Voetterle) Pearl.
Shirley's fun and loving spirit touched everyone she met. She loved playing poker with her friends and had a distinctive laugh that let everyone know she was having a great time. Rock n Roll music was her favorite, and she enjoyed spending time outdoors and with her family. Whether it was a game of Yahtzee or cards, Shirley was always up for some fun.
Her love for motorcycles, especially Harleys, was well-known. She had a soft spot for sweet tea and lasagna and loved to dazzle herself with jewelry. Shirley was a wonderful cook and seamstress, and she found joy swinging on the front porch, taking in the beauty of nature.
Shirley leaves behind her loving family who will miss her dearly: her son David Tate and his wife Amber of Alabama; her daughter Desiree Tate and Mitchell Kesselring of Ohio; her grandson Grayson Tate of Alabama; and her siblings Raymond Pearl and his wife Teresa, Michael Pearl, Lisa Mitchell, and Debbie Pearl, all of Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: David Pearl, John Pearl, Patricia Pearl, Susan Pearl, and Robert Pearl.
