Stephen Roger Porter, 78, of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:00 A.M., Monday, October 28, 2024 at his residence.
Stephen had worked as a plumber for Plumber and Pipefitters Union.  He was a United States Army veteran and member of Plumber and Pipefitters Local 160.
He was born May 7, 1946 in Pinckneyville, IL, the son of Herman and Lorrine (Eichholz) Porter.
He married Diana Sue Pippin on June 5, 1969 in Pinckneyville, IL and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, two sons - Danny Joe Porter and wife Angie and Timothy Wayne Porter, all of Du Quoin, three grandchildren - Levi Porter and wife Abby, Laynee Krone and husband Kelly, and Jennifer Brown and husband Dylan, all of Du Quoin, two great grandchildren - Hudson Brown of Du Quoin and Halle Porter of Du Quoin, two brothers - Roger Porter and wife Carol and Richard Porter, five sisters - Phyliss Ferguson and husband Jim, Margie Born and husband Henry, Alene Dowling and husband Bob, Jannice Johannes, and Rosemary Gurley, one brother-in-law - Gary Pippin and wife Marsha, sister-in-law - Linda Newton, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers - Frances, Jerry, Edward, and Jimmy and two brothers-in-law - Jeff Gurley and Keith Johannes.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at the Antioch Cemetery in Tamaroa with Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.
Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery in Tamaroa, IL.
Friends may make memorials to American Cancer Society or Antioch Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home.
