Stephen R. Wohlwend, 73, of Elkville, passed away at 1:55 P.M., Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at the Du Quoin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Stephen had worked for Maytag Company in Herrin for twenty-five years as a maintenance mechanic and welder.
He was born August 22, 1948 in Murphysboro, IL, the son of Roscoe J. and Mary (Parrish) Wohlwend.
He married Diana Malherbe on May 25, 1965 in Phoenix, AZ and she survives.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of Elkville, two daughters - Stephanie Grammer of Albuquerque, NM, and Samantha Wohlwend of O'Fallon, MO and one son - Gabriel Wohlwend of Carbondale, three grandchildren - Brooklyn Slatton, Matthew Grammer and Sarah Grammer, three great grandchildren - Oona Slatton, Bellamie Slatton and Licah Slatton, and one sister - Kathryn Smith of Phoenix, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents - Roscoe J. Wohlwend and Mary Ferguson and one daughter - Beckie Wohlwend "Hawk".
Memorial visitation will be from 5 to 7 P.M., Sunday, April 3, 2022 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial will be at a later date at the Sutter Cemetery in Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the Alzheimer's Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
