Thomas Herbert George, 85, of Du Quoin, passed away at 4:15 A.M., Sunday, April 4, 2021 at the Du Quoin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Thomas had been store manager for Mine Service Company. He was a member of the Liberty Church in Du Quoin. Thomas was a United States Marine Corps veteran. He enjoyed camping and wood working.
He was born February 10, 1936 at Tamaroa, IL, the son of Hershel E. and Helen L. (Newborn) George.
He married Mary Kathryn Ray on October 12, 1961 at Du Quoin, IL and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, one daughter - Kristine Harrison and husband David of Du Quoin, one son - Thomas W. George and wife Heather of Pinckneyville, two sisters - Amanda Macaraeg of Staunton, IL, and Janice Nowakowski of Las Cruces, NM, nine grandchildren - Charles Alan Payne II and fiancé Morgan Dennis of Du Quoin, Lauren Elizabeth Hicks and husband Hayden of Pinckneyville, Miranda Ray Payne of Du Quoin, Savannah George of Pinckneyville, Megan Fallon of Pinckneyville, Dalton George of Benton, Sydney Geralds of Marissa, Tyler George of Ava and Cierra Fallon of Pinckneyville, three great grandchildren - Luca Ray Payne, Leighton Elizabeth Hicks and Kane Geralds.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister - Helen "Sis" Russell, and one half brother - Bob Horner.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the Liberty Church in Du Quoin with Rev. Lon McPherson officiating.
Friends may call from 9 A.M. until the time of service on Saturday at the church.

Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Du Quoin.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin V.F.W. and American Legion and the United States Marine Corps.
Friends may make memorials to the Liberty Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
