Dr. Thomas Jakle Weinberg, 81, of Du Quoin, passed away at 9:15 A.M., Saturday, October 19, 2024 at his residence in Du Quoin.
Thomas had been a medical doctor and worked as a general surgeon and obstetrician gynecologist.  He was a Captain for the United States Navy and served in the Vietnam War.  Tom served 20 years in the Naval Reserves.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Du Quoin. Thomas was a member of the DAV, American Medical Association and a lifetime member of the VFW.
He was born April 28, 1943 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Dr. Julius and Irma Jean (Kelly) Weinberg.
Tom married Grace Guadalupe on August 8, 2018 in Pinckneyville, IL and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, four children - Jennifer Weinberg and Jeremy Wade of San Francisco, CA, Nicholas Weinberg of Washington, D.C., Gregory Weinberg of Centralia, IL, and Christopher Weinberg of Daphne, AL, one grandson - Tommy Weinberg of Washington, D.C., one brother - Richard Weinberg and wife Jan of Du Quoin, IL, one step son - Brix Angeles and wife Genyll of Los Angeles, CA, two step daughters - Bea Angeles of Hong Kong and Daphne Briggs Guadalupe of San Antonio, TX, one step granddaughter - Brielle Angeles and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister - Nancy Weinberg.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, October  25, 2024 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Jim Endsley officiating.
Friends may call from 10 A.M. until the time of service on Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Du Quoin, IL.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin V.F.W. and American Legion and the United States Navy.
Friends may make memorials to Residential Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
