Velma M. "Blondie" Harsy, 90, of Du Quoin, passed away at 11:01 A.M., Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at her residence.

Blondie had worked at the Du Quoin Packing House. She was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ in Du Quoin. Blondie was also a member of the Women's Fellowship at the church. She enjoyed going to bingo and the casino.

She was born October 21, 1930 at Du Quoin, IL, the daughter of Herschel and Edna Cora (Morris) Stowers.

She married Adam J. Harsy on November 8, 1947 at Du Quoin, IL and he preceded her in death on August 8, 2006.

She is survived by two daughters - Connie Flint and husband Phillip of Du Quoin and Jane Stanhouse and husband Bill of Du Quoin, two brothers - Clarence "Budgy" Stowers and Joey Stowers and wife Sue, all of Du Quoin, and one sister - Patsy Williams of Kentucky. Nana's grandkids are Karrie (Charles) and Holly, great grandkids are Nolan, Dena, Jolie, Joseph and Brenna. She is also survived by her cat DeeDee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter - Cathy Jo Harsy, one son - John W. Harsy, five brothers and four sisters.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin with Jane (Miller) Pritchett officiating.

Please use social distancing guidelines. Everyone in attendance is required to wear a mask.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

Friends may make memorials to the St. John's United Church of Christ in Du Quoin, Perry County Humane Society, or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
