Violet Marie Malone, 87, of Munster, IN, formerly of Du Quoin, passed away at 11:55 A.M., Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Hartsfield Village in Munster, IN.
She was born July 19, 1935, in Sesser, Illinois to Steve and Mary (Wingo) Pierce.
Violet married Olen Malone on December 24, 1954 in Waltonville, Illinois, with Rev. Floyd Hartley officiating. They shared 43 years of marriage. Olen preceded her in death in December of 1997.
Violet was baptized as a teenager in the Protestant faith. She worked at Forest City Garment Company in Du Quoin and also at the Pinckneyville Garment Company. She retired early to become a full-time housewife. Violet kept a beautiful home and was a wonderful cook. She was a very loving mother and grandmother and always enjoyed time spent with her family.
Violet is survived by one daughter, Debra (Steve) Shelby, of Schererville, IN; two granddaughters, Jacqueline (Greg) Krupinski of Carmel, IN, and Jessica (Steven) Brown of Santa Monica, CA; two great granddaughters, Madeline Marie Krupinski of Carmel, IN, and Beatrice Malone Brown of Santa Monica, CA; two great grandsons, Evan Krupinski of Carmel, IN, and Steven Brown Jr. of Santa Monica, CA; one sister - Alma Jean Williams of Du Quoin; and a host of loving cousins, all of whom were very dear to her.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her in-laws, Addison and Jessie (Ray) Malone; and brother-in-law - Elmer Williams.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Jim Endsley officiating.
Friends may call from 9 A.M. until the time of service on Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the Alzheimer's Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
