Walter E. Jackson, Jr., 73, of Du Quoin, passed away at 11:25 A.M., Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Walter was a retired coal miner. He had worked for BICC cable and MPP.
He was born August 30, 1951 in Du Quoin, IL, the son of Walter E. and Marie (Simpson) Jackson, Sr.
He married Lenecia Cole in 2006 in Pinckneyville, IL and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, two daughters - Tameka Armstrong and husband Nathan of Du Quoin and Ashley Aguirre and husband Richard of Carbondale, four step children - Deeja Cole, Jarred Thomas, Ollnecia Cole and Anthony Cole, all of Du Quoin, three grandchildren - Tiberius Aguirre, Alex Armstrong, and Trevor Armstrong, eight step grandchildren, two siblings - Lindell Jackson-Slaughter and Jerome "Jerry" Jackson, both of Du Quoin, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 14, 2024 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
In lieu of flowers friends may make memorials to Du Quoin Food Pantry and will be accepted at the funeral home.
