William R. Hapke, 77, of Springfield, IL, formerly of Pinckneyville, passed away at 5:25 P.M., Friday, February 18, 2022 at his residence.
William had worked at the Navy ship yards. He was of the Christian faith. William was a United States Navy veteran.
He was born June 28, 1944 at Pinckneyville, IL, the son of William and Bonnie (Jenkel) Hapke.
He married Frankie and she preceded him in death.
He is survived by one brother - Dirk Hicks of Kankakee, IL, three sisters - Nancy Hapke of Pinckneyville, Sharon Siefert of Elgin, IL and Shirly Waller of Texas, nieces and nephews including Jo Eldridge of Springfield, IL whom he lived with and great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother - Arthur Morris and one sister - Faye Hapke Schue.
Military graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at the Mueller Hill Cemetery at Pinckneyville with the Du Quoin V.F.W. and American Legion and the United States Navy conducting the service.
Burial will be in the Mueller Hill Cemetery at Pinckneyville, IL.
